With God’s grace and the help of many family members and friends, I founded Trinity Classical Academy in 2001.
While completing my Masters degree in education from the University of Southern California, I began to entertain the idea of someday starting a school.
Upon graduation, I embarked on a teaching career at the junior high level. Despite the best of intentions, I saw firsthand that the public schools were just not providing the kind of education or environment that I would someday want for my own children. There of course is an outright hostility toward Christianity in the government schools and I believe it resulted in a hopelessness and lack of passion in many of my students.
By the time I became a mother, I was convinced that there must be a better way to educate my own children. Beginning a school was occupying more and more of my thoughts until one day while listening to Focus on the Family, I heard Dr. Dobson interview Douglas Wilson, who had begun a classical, Christian school in Idaho. Mr. Wilson’s passion for his endeavor, coupled with his persuasive contention that a return to classical, Christian education is essential for producing exceptional, Godly young students hit me like a lightning bolt. I believe God gave me a big nudge that day and in the weeks and months to come, I read everything I could on classical, Christian education. It soon became clear to me that this method, used for centuries but abandoned at the advent of ‘modern’ education, was the best method to integrate deep faith and an incredible academic experience in students.
My husband and I wondered if perhaps others might have the same feelings about modern, government education – that it was sorely inadequate, lacking real challenge and certainly any spiritual aspect. We surveyed some people at our church, asking if they would be interested in a school that offered a challenging education grounded in the Christian faith and the classical tradition, and we were amazed at the overwhelming response. We were on to something and a dream soon became reality.
From those humble beginnings, with God’s guidance and a handful of passionate and steadfast families, Trinity Classical Academy was born.
After two years of intense planning and prayer, we opened our doors in 2001 with 28 students in grades K-2. We soon became a fixture on the Santa Clarita education landscape and before long we were one of the fastest growing classical, Christian schools in the country. We now educate over 500 students, grades K-12 and are one of the largest classical, Christian schools in the country.
Our students are cultivating a love for God and a love of learning. They are learning how to think well, write well and speak well and their entire experience is wrapped around a Christian worldview.
I believe that God has blessed our efforts and I feel that we are indeed fulfilling our mission, which states:

I am as passionate now as I have ever been about Trinity Classical Academy. Our brightest days are certainly ahead of us and I can’t wait to see what incredible things God has in store for us in the years to come.

Mrs. Brown received her Bachelors of Music from California Polytechnic University in 2011 and started teaching at Trinity in 2012. Since joining Trinity’s fine arts faculty, Emily has taught Logic School Drama and directed two choral ensembles: the Logic Singers (7th-8th grade choir) and and the Chorister Choir (1st-2nd grade choir). Mrs. B. began teaching 4th grade in 2016.

Mrs. Brown has been involved with Trinity’s Fine Arts since the spring of 2008, when she was brought on to direct the Choir. Her role expanded in 2009 when she was asked to teach a Rhetoric school elective, which is how the Crimson Handbells were created. In 2010, Jennifer joined forces with the music teacher to provide general music classes to the ever growing and expanding Trinity student population and taught the 4th-6th grades. By 2012, the previous music teacher left to start her family and Jennifer stayed on to take over all of Kindergarten-6th Grade general music class. By 2013, Transitional Kindergarten classes had also been added to her role, as well as her cherished role as Music Therapist for the Imago Dei grammar students. The general music classes, Crimson Handbells, Music Therapy and the after school enrichments of Crimson Choir and Crimson Chimes are all a part of the musical contributions that Jennifer gives to Trinity. Stepping back slightly in Fall 2017, Mrs. Brown is now teaching Kindergarten and 4th-6th Grade Music Classes and oversees and the directs Trinity’s Christmas show.
Though originally a vocal performance major at Pasadena City College and Northern Arizona University , Jennifer ended up graduating in 1996 from Cal State Northridge with a degree in Music Therapy. She worked from 1995-2001 as the Educational Consultant and Music Therapist for the Sound Listening & Learning Center in Pasadena working with the Tomatis Method of Auditory Integration, while also privately providing music therapy services to those with Autism, Down Syndrome, Pervasive Developmental Delays, Asperger’s, Williams Syndrome, ADD, DDHD, Cerebral Palsey, and those with Speech and Developmental delays. In 2002, Jennifer started her own small business called Music & Movin’… an early childhood music program serving children 0-5 and offered Mommy & Me classes, birthday parties, piano lessons, music therapy and music services for preschools. Under the Santa Clarita Master Chorale, Jennifer also founded and directed the Santa Clarita Children’s Honor Choir from 2010-2016, and continues to this day to direct children’s choirs and performs herself as a Soprano in churches, and for weddings, funerals, and other special events.
Jennifer is married to her husband, Tom Brown, the Fine Arts Director of Trinity. Together they enjoying seeing their own three children on campus as they pursue Trinity’s mission of becoming young men and women of virtue, wisdom, purpose and courage.

Dr. Keith Buhler is a philosopher, classical educator, and writer with more than a decade of experience in the classical education movement.
Dr. Buhler earned his Ph.D. in philosophy at the University of Kentucky, where he studied contemporary virtue ethics under Christian philosopher David Bradshaw. He joins the Trinity faculty after three years teaching courses on philosophy, C. S. Lewis, and virtue ethics at Asbury University and 10+ years teaching, administrating, and designing curriculum at various classical, Christian schools.
He is the author of a self-published book on Scripture and tradition, as well as a writer and blogger on topics such as Christianity, philosophy, popular culture, suffering, and virtue. In his free time, he enjoys sculpting, painting, table tennis, and classic American film.
Dr. Buhler, his wife, and three children are grateful to be living back in their native Southern California after a five-year graduate school sojourn. Most of all, they are overjoyed to serve God by leading students in the pursuit of goodness, truth, and beauty.
