Letter from Mrs. Massetto (Enhanced Remote Learning Plan)

Dear Upper School parents,

I pray this email finds you well and rested in the midst of our current season.

As Mrs. Caddow has communicated, we are looking forward to the start of school and have adjusted our Remote Learning requirements so that Trinity will be offering more robust instruction focused on our mission and in line with our pedagogical goals, while also being mindful of the increase in screen time and student responsibility that these expectations will require.

What follows are the things that you can expect of our teachers as well as your student(s) as we begin the year with Remote Learning. Please note that these expectations are very different from those we adopted in the spring and we realize there will be a period of transition for faculty, parents, and students.

Expectations for faculty during Remote Learning:

  • Attendance will be taken at the beginning of each class period
  • Both Logic School and Rhetoric School classes will run 90 minutes. The loss of 10 minutes from each class period will allow our students to take longer breaks from their screens and computers. Class start times will be 8:00 A.M., 10:00 A.M., 12:30 P.M., and 2:05 P.M.
  • Each class period and section will have its own Google Classroom.
  • The primary instruction for each class will be given live daily on Zoom.
  • Homework standards for Remote Learning will be similar to in-person instruction.
  • All work and expectations will be posted in Google Classroom.

Student expectations for Remote Learning:

  • As faculty are expected to be in proper attire, our students will be required to attend class in their school uniforms.
  • Students are to be seated at a workspace, with their school material.
  • Students are not permitted to eat during class time.
  • Students are not permitted to use cell phones or “to chat” with other students during class time.
  • All students are to log into Zoom with their proper first and last name.
  • Students must have their video turned on and the ability to use their audio as appropriate for each class.
  • If a student chooses to adjust their Zoom background, it must be appropriate and cannot be changed during class time.
  • If a student chooses to ignore these expectations, it will be incumbent on the teacher to reiterate the broken expectation and to remove the student from the Zoom meeting until this requirement has been corrected.
    • Please note: teachers are required to remove from Zoom any students who do not follow these expectations. Adherence to these expectations is not optional.
    • Think of this like our on-campus uniform expectations: students are not permitted to attend on-campus classes when they are not in proper attire. When a student corrects the infraction, they will be allowed to return.

Remote Learning Schedule:

  • We will continue to utilize the A/B Calendar. An A Day consists of Periods 1-3 and a B Day consists of Periods 4-6. Period 7 will happen remotely on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 2:05-2:55 P.M.
  • All Remote Learning will be done in school uniforms
  • House/Team t-shirts and jeans will be the attire for on-campus Academic Fortification days
  • No Study Hall for Rhetoric School until students return to traditional in-person and on-campus instruction
  • Every Tuesday and Wednesday will be a minimum day for both Logic and Rhetoric School with no 7th period for either.
  • Students will have PE on Thursday during Period 7 through Remote Learning
  • Logic School will be on campus for Academic Fortification every Tuesday.
  • Rhetoric School will be on campus for Academic Fortification every Wednesday.
  • All mitigations and safety protocols communicated in our Return to Campus Plan will be in place any time Trinity students are on campus.
  • Students will continue to have Electives during Period 7 through Remote Learning on Mondays and Fridays

All Upper School students will need a computer, please reach out to me if you need assistance with devices.

Parents and students who would prefer to have Remote Learning without on-campus assessments or Academic Fortification until January, please contact Mrs. Hosmann for information on how to enroll in Trinity Classical Academy’s online-only program.

Please familiarize yourself with these expectations before the return to campus and start of school. If you have concerns about these expectations, please reach out to me.

Thank you for your flexibility in these most uncertain times.

Blessings,
Mrs. Massetto
