Dear Upper School Students & Parents,

I pray you are having a restful break and enjoying your family time. I have missed communicating with you these last two weeks. Our remote learning starts again on Tuesday, April 14th, at 8:00 AM. We are sticking with our published A/B calendar, so Tuesday is a "B" day (periods 4,5,6).  Electives continuing on M,W,F. 

As we transition into week #3, I wanted to inform everyone about some new expectations. These new expectations allow for more structure during the day and greater interaction with the faculty. The goal is for students to take part in remote learning during their regular class period time. 

Expectations:

• Students must check-in to Google classroom at the beginning of each period  (8:00, 10:00, and 12:20) to see what is expected during that period. A class period could include any of the following: watching a video, live instruction via Zoom, teacher instructional video, class time assignments, Zoom office hours, correcting of homework, a class discussion on the reading, reading together, answering a question in Google classroom, etc.  All live Zoom instructional sessions will be recorded and uploaded to Google classroom in case of any unforeseen circumstances. During the actual period, teachers will be on Google classroom with you and can respond to immediate questions for that period. 
• Teachers will be confirming student attendance each period. This could be done by a visual check-in, exit ticket, short assignment, quiz, discussion questions, etc.
• Students will be given regular assignments and assessments as appropriate. All grades will be updated in RenWeb.
• All work from students should be submitted through Google classroom. 
• A student's login name for Google classroom should be their name (not something weird). Please change it before Tuesday.
• Students should follow these simple rules when on Zoom:  mute the microphone, look presentable, and avoid distractions. No one wants to see you in your pajamas or hear you eating a bag of chips.

Each class overall should be an average of 75 minutes per day for Logic School and an average of 90 minutes per day for Rhetoric School.  Although nothing is as good as being with you, we are still committed to providing you with a meaningful, thoughtful, and strong education.
