They are the founders of Hope Heals, a ministry born out of their own story: one that encourages and inspires us all, and in particular those who are suffering debilitating physical afflictions.

In 2008, at age 26, Katherine suffered a brainstem stroke that almost took her life. She had been married a few short years and had a 6-month-old son at the time. Miraculously, her life was spared and she spent the ensuing 2 years recovering, first in ICU and then in a brain rehab facility learning to walk, talk and even to swallow. After almost a year of not being able to eat (one of her favorite things to do), she was finally able to swallow. Many physical impairments remain, but she has persevered through eleven surgeries, and two years ago they had a second child.

Jay was at her side from the beginning and has been faithful in the “worse” and the “sickness” of their wedding vows. He travels with her and speaks with her, sharing their story across the nation, giving perspective on suffering, encouraging hope in affliction and speaking with faith and a sense of humor.

When Mrs. Caddow introduced them, she said, “I met them at a conference several years ago, invited them to speak here three years ago, and again today. I have yet to hear a more inspirational story.”
