The Beginning Coding Class is for students in 3rd - 8th grades who have little or no experience with programming and are interested in learning concepts using the free program Scratch which allows for a “building-block” experience that allows manipulation and use of code without extensive knowledge. This class is aimed at students with an interest in technology and how things work, who have no or limited past experience with coding languages. They will learn the basics of coding and the concepts of logic that go into writing code. The free program Scratch will be used to facilitate hands-on building of programs for the students without the needed knowledge of a coding language. The class will start with the concepts and background needed to understand coding and will then start using Scratch to have the students practice unique ways of using these concepts.
