Jan. 13, 2017 – The Trinity Repertory Company presented Thornton Wilder’s classic play Our Town about life in a small New Hampshire town at the turn of the 20th century.
The play is set in actual theater and ‘stage managers’ Marineh Allen, Allie Brown and Ariana Pantaleo introduce the audience to the small town of Grover’s Corners and the daily life of the people living there as the morning begins in 1901.
The play’s second act takes place 3 years later as next-door neighbors since childhood George and Emily, played by Raul Mesa and Catie Galan fall in love and wed. The play concludes in act three where 9 years have passed and some of the citizens of Grovers Corner have died, leaving those behind to face life without them.
Wilder called Our Town his favorite out of all his works insisting that it “should be performed without sentimentality or ponderousness–simply, dryly, and sincerely. The Trinity Company performed a very serious, moving and indeed sincere rendition of the play.
