The Resource Room provides a specialized environment where students receive individualized support and targeted intervention.

The Resource Room is designed to meet students where they are and help them grow with confidence and purpose.

Directed Studies provides specialized small-group instruction for students with learning disabilities.

Areas of focus include:

• Academic preparation and planning
• Organization skills
• Study strategies
• Time management
• Self-advocacy

Students learn to break down assignments, manage responsibilities, and become increasingly independent learners. 

Educational Therapy is designed for students with diagnosed learning disabilities who possess average to superior intelligence but experience challenges in cognitive processing and academic performance.

Unlike tutoring, Educational Therapy:

• Addresses underlying learning processes
• Builds cognitive and perceptual skills
• Strengthens reading and spelling
• Supports written expression
• Improves mathematical reasoning
• Develops confidence and independence
• Increases Executive Function Skills

Services are provided by licensed Educational Therapists through individual or small-group instruction.  

Students with speech and language needs may receive on-campus services from a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist.

Support focuses on:

• Language development
• Communication skills
• Articulation
• Listening comprehension
• Expressive language
• Confidence in communication

Trinity proactively screens all Kindergarten through 2nd-grade students to identify potential reading difficulties as early as possible.

Students who qualify receive:

Explicit, Direct Instruction

• Skills are taught directly, not discovered through context or guessing.

• The teacher clearly explains and models each concept before students practice.

Systematic and Sequential Instruction

• Concepts are taught in a carefully planned order, moving from simple to complex.

• New learning builds on previously mastered skills.

Diagnostic and Prescriptive Teaching

• Continuous assessment drives instruction.

• Lessons are adjusted based on student performance rather than following a fixed script.

Multisensory Learning

• Students simultaneously use visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile pathways (seeing, saying, hearing, writing, manipulating sounds and letters).

• This is a hallmark of Orton-Gillingham-based instruction.

Comprehensive Language Instruction

• Intervention addresses the major components of written language:

  • Phonological awareness

  • Sound-symbol correspondence (phonics)

  • Syllable patterns

  • Morphology (prefixes, suffixes, roots)

  • Syntax and semantics (grammar and meaning)

Early Intervention groups in grades K-2 are provided at no additional cost.

Students with a persistent, dyslexic profile receive targeted, multisensory intervention designed to meet their literacy needs.

Program features include:

• Structured Literacy screening
• Individual and small-group intervention
• Explicit Orton-Gillingham instruction
• Systematic reading progression
• Reading, spelling, and writing support

The goal is to help students become confident, capable, and joyful learners. 

Students enrolled in Supplemental Services continue to participate in Trinity’s full academic program while receiving appropriate support.

For students with more significant needs, a Student Success Plan may provide:

• Targeted accommodations
• Academic support services
• Case management
• Progress monitoring
• Individualized intervention strategies

These plans preserve the integrity of Trinity’s academic program while ensuring students receive the support they need to succeed.
