Second grade learned about animal classifications in science. To help them learn more about the characteristics of fish, they brought in real fish to examine and dissect.
The students worked in small groups to find, identify and label the external anatomy of a fish, including eyes, mouth, dorsal fin, caudal fin (tail), pectoral fin (fin closest to the mouth), and gills. This was a wonderful way to learn about God's creation and the names we have for the things He created!
The students enjoyed the experiment and really had fun learning about one of God’s creatures!
