It was a perfect day to keep the six-year winning streak alive in Fillmore on Saturday. The weather was great and so were the swims. The Knights competed against Vasquez High in the league opener. Both the boys and the girls' teams came away with a victory, with a combined total of 150 - 21. It was truly a team effort with every member contributing to the point total.
The girls picked up right where they left off last year with five swimmers (Anna, Helen, Maddie, Olivia, and Sophie) all earning their place at the CIF Championships last May. These girls achieved the “Automatic” time standard for two relays. Also achieving the automatic standard was Olivia in two individual events. But the ladies were not done with fast swims. Anna, Maddie, and Helen achieved the “Consideration” time standard in their individual events as well.
The boys' team had five swimmers (Noah, Thomas, Luke, Justus, Hugh) earn consideration times for two relays. Justus Fudge achieved a consideration time for his individual swims and Thomas Rolls achieved the automatic time standard and re-wrote the league and team record book in his two individual swims.
The Knights are on a six-year winning streak, having not lost a single league meet in six years and now they are planning to make it seven! During this streak, they have won 33 straight league meets, and were awarded five Heritage League team titles. The girls are led by their junior captains Anna and Olivia Leathers, plus an amazing cast of returning first-team all-league swimmers: Helen Serrano, Katherine Baljet, and Fennella Warren. In addition to these veteran swimmers, they have a cast of newcomers that are going to be fun to watch! The boy’s team is returning two first-team all-league sophomores, Justus Fudge and Tyler Luker. The boys have also added a great group of newcomers!
