It was truly "A Night to Shine" for our amazing students in the Imago Dei School, with awesome support from Trinity's NHS (National Honor Society) students.
A Night to Shine is a prom sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation and is for people with special needs. It is an unforgettable prom night experience, centered on God’s love, for people with special needs ages 14 and older. On Friday night, 721 churches from around the world came together to host Night to Shine for approximately 115,000 honored guests through the support of 215,000 volunteers!
The Foundation provides rental dresses and tuxedos for the honored guests who attend, along with hair and makeup, shoe shining, and a chance to dance the night away. Each honored guest was paired with a buddy who was their date for the evening. We had six students from our Imago Dei School attend the prom at Real Life Church.
Trinity's NHS (National Honor Society) chapter served as buddies to honored guests. They acted as paparazzi and helped with shoe shining and distributing gift bags. Mrs. Loni Black, NHS Advisor, also volunteered with her students and said it was truly a blessed evening.
"I do not think I could put into words how wonderful the night was for everyone, including the teachers," said Miss Escorza, Imago Dei teacher; "Mr. Kister, Mrs. Escorza and I all attended the prom as "floaters" and I am so glad we volunteered because that night was so much bigger than any of us."
It was a time to truly recognize how wonderful and special these men and women are and all that they deserve. It was, without a doubt, THEIR night to shine.
