August 2017 – New teachers, new uniforms, new backpacks. The first day of school is always a blend of excitement, some nervousness, and a whole lot of energy. The drop off line is practically non-existent as parents love to walk their children in on the first day, taking pictures and greeting friends and teachers.
After getting everyone into a classroom, most grades turned right around and headed outside for chapel, where students sang, prayed and were introduced to the school verse for the year, Philippians 1:9-11. Mr. Leigh brought the message, using a memorable example of an Oreo cookie, and asking senior Ryan DeMarois to taste it, only to find out it wasn’t what he expected. It was filled with toothpaste! He used the example to discuss how we need to be discerning about what we love.
Parents of seniors continued the tradition of meeting at the flagpole to pray over their students and all that the senior year entails. They will do this weekly throughout the year.
Kindergartners started their day learning how to line up and say the flag salute. They will be ready to attend chapel soon.
Here are few photos from the morning. You can also find Mr. Caddow’s gallery of photos here.
