With God’s grace and the help of many family members and friends, I founded Trinity Classical Academy in 2001.
While completing my Masters degree in education from the University of Southern California, I began to entertain the idea of someday starting a school.
Upon graduation, I embarked on a teaching career at the junior high level. Despite the best of intentions, I saw firsthand that the public schools were just not providing the kind of education or environment that I would someday want for my own children. There of course is an outright hostility toward Christianity in the government schools and I believe it resulted in a hopelessness and lack of passion in many of my students.
By the time I became a mother, I was convinced that there must be a better way to educate my own children. Beginning a school was occupying more and more of my thoughts until one day while listening to Focus on the Family, I heard Dr. Dobson interview Douglas Wilson, who had begun a classical, Christian school in Idaho. Mr. Wilson’s passion for his endeavor, coupled with his persuasive contention that a return to classical, Christian education is essential for producing exceptional, Godly young students hit me like a lightning bolt. I believe God gave me a big nudge that day and in the weeks and months to come, I read everything I could on classical, Christian education. It soon became clear to me that this method, used for centuries but abandoned at the advent of ‘modern’ education, was the best method to integrate deep faith and an incredible academic experience in students.
My husband and I wondered if perhaps others might have the same feelings about modern, government education – that it was sorely inadequate, lacking real challenge and certainly any spiritual aspect. We surveyed some people at our church, asking if they would be interested in a school that offered a challenging education grounded in the Christian faith and the classical tradition, and we were amazed at the overwhelming response. We were on to something and a dream soon became reality.
From those humble beginnings, with God’s guidance and a handful of passionate and steadfast families, Trinity Classical Academy was born.
After two years of intense planning and prayer, we opened our doors in 2001 with 28 students in grades K-2. We soon became a fixture on the Santa Clarita education landscape and before long we were one of the fastest growing classical, Christian schools in the country. We now educate over 500 students, grades K-12 and are one of the largest classical, Christian schools in the country.
Our students are cultivating a love for God and a love of learning. They are learning how to think well, write well and speak well and their entire experience is wrapped around a Christian worldview.
I believe that God has blessed our efforts and I feel that we are indeed fulfilling our mission, which states:

I am as passionate now as I have ever been about Trinity Classical Academy. Our brightest days are certainly ahead of us and I can’t wait to see what incredible things God has in store for us in the years to come.

Dr. Matt Dixon
Director of Athletics / Dean of Spiritual Life / 12th grade Apologetics 2008
Matt has been a part of education within both the church and Christian school since 2005. After graduating from The Master’s University in 2008 he immediately began working in a formal educational setting at Trinity Classical Academy in Valencia, CA, while pursuing additional schooling through Southern Seminary in Louisville, KY. During his time at Trinity, Matt has taught various classes including 6th and 10th grade math, 2nd through 8th grade physical education, high school music, 6th grade Bible, and he developed and taught a Christian Worldview course for high school students. Most recently, he enjoys teaching 12th grade apologetics. Matt’s primary role at Trinity is fulfilled as the Director of Athletics, where he gives direction and leadership to Trinity’s Department of Athletics including over 40 teams, TK-12th. On the side, Matt also teaches courses in Christian education both online and in traditional formats at his alma mater—The Master’s University. Matt is happily married to his wife of nine years, Sarah, who teaches in TMU’s School of Music, and together they have two sons, Isaiah and Zachary.

Megan Howell helped launch Trinity’s Success Center in 2008, which is an academic program for students with learning difficulties. In 2011, under Mrs. Howell’s leadership, Trinity opened the Imago Dei School for students with more significant learning or developmental challenges. Creating a new model for classical, Christian schools, the Imago Dei School blends academic and therapeutic support with cognitive modifiability strategies. Mrs. Howell has a passion to help all students reach their God-given potential. She currently lives in Valencia with her husband and six children, three of whom are currently attending Trinity.

Jeff Kulp joined Trinity as the school’s first fifth grade teacher and Dean of Administration in 2004. Currently he serves as Grammar School Principal and Chief Operating Officer. Prior to Trinity he taught third and fourth grades at a local public school for 8 years.
Jeff lives in Valencia with his wife Shannon and their three sons: Patch and Caden are Trinity alumni and Nolan is a student in the Rhetoric School.

Mrs. Sandifer graduated from Baylor University where she received a Bachelor degree in Music with an emphasis in Trumpet. After graduating, she further studied trumpet with Tom Booth, Trumpet Professor at SMU and member of the Dallas Symphony. Mrs. Sandifer played professionally in the Dallas area where she also had a private trumpet studio. She moved from Texas to Santa Clarita in 2013 and is excited to be teaching the Logic School Music elective, assisting with beginning band, and teaching private trumpet lessons. Her three children attend Trinity.

Teresa began her career, receiving hands-on training, while working for a Human Resources Consulting firm. She has comprehensive training in all areas of Employment Law, Employee Relations and Training, Compensation and Benefits Administration, and possesses over 20 years’ experience in Human Resource Management.
She feels truly blessed to be doing what she loves at Trinity, while her three children, Aaron (12th Grade), Emma (9th Grade) and Elise (5th Grade) receive the gifts of learning, love and inspiration.
