Mar. 18, 2015 – The Senior Honors Government class was honored to have Santa Clarita Mayor Marsha McLean visit to talk to the students about local government and her 13 years of public service.
Mayor McLean spoke to students about what she felt were the most important issues facing our city including proposed mining in Santa Clarita, the fight over potential re-districiting for voting and ongoing chlorine issues in our area.
The Mayor explained what she found to be the most challenging and gratifying aspects of serving the public. She spoke at length about the challenge of building consensus between widely disparate parties on issues and said that the most encouraging aspect of her job is when citizens mention to her that Santa Clarita is such a great place to live, work and raise a family.
