Trinity Loses to SCCS in OT

The Trinity High School JV Boys Basketball team lost a heart breaker in overtime to Santa Clarita Christian 76-67. This was the first ever meeting between the two schools in high school basketball.
The Knights started out slowly in the first quarter and at one point were down 18-4 in what looked like an SCCS blowout. Trinity showed a lot of heart and courage in the second quarter and tied the game at 26 with less that 30 seconds to play in the half. Jordan Mumper scored 9 of his game high 37 points in the second period, Chris Buchanan also hit a timely 3 pointer in the period. SCCS led 30-26 at the half.
Again, the Knights fell behind as much as 16 points in the second half but again battled back in the fourth quarter outscoring SCCS 21-10. In the final 11 seconds, Jordan Mumper drove to the basket, made the shot and was fouled. The score was 63-62 with Mumper at the line and he hit a pressure free throw to tie the game 63-63 and send the game into overtime.
Unfortunately, in overtime, SCCS guard Brett Ranhofer hit three highly contested 3 point baskets to put the game away for SCCS. Ranhofer ended with 36 points. Mumper ended the game with 37 points and 13 rebounds, James Brooks scored 13 points, had 17 rebounds (13 in the second half), four assists and 3 blocks. Brandon Figearo ended with 13 points (including two 3 pointers), six rebounds and three steals. Danny Leavitt added 5 rebounds. Buchanan scored 3 points and 4 rebounds.

The Knights Take Down Vasquez - Again!

| Trinity Classical Academy extended its win streak to four by beating Vasquez High School 56-42. The Knights have won five out of their last six games to bring their season record to 5-2.
The game was broken open in the second quarter as Trinity made four 3 point baskets in a row. Three by Brandon Figearo, followed up with one by Chris Buchanan who was battling the flu all week. Shane Larsen had his best game of the season and was a terror on the boards, with a team high of 12. Larsen also finished with 13 points, two assists and three steals. Larsen also made 3 of 4 from the foul line.
Danny Leavitt also was dominating on the boards, posting seven rebounds. Kevin Tait started his second game, replacing Jordan Mumper who did not play. Tait finished with 4 points, three rebounds, an assist and a steal to go along with great defensive play. Buchanan posted 5 points and an assist. James Brooks ended up with a game high 15 points and had 11 rebounds, three steals and three blocked shots. Jesse Mills and Donny MacAdam played well defensively as Mills hounded the Vasquez guards and MacAdam controlled the paint. Picture Gallery

The Knights Travel to Palo Verdes and Bring Home a Win

The Trinity Knights traveled to Chadwick High School in Palos Verdes and picked up another win by beating the Dolphins 43-29. The Knights were playing without their starting point guard, Jordan Mumper, who has averaged 19 points per game over Trinity's first five games.
The rest of the team stepped up in his absence. James Brooks of the Knights started off quick with 13 points and seven rebounds in the first quarter. Brandon Figearo also had a strong first half scoring 8 points, added seven rebounds and four assists. Shane Larsen took over the second half with 5 points and six rebounds.
James Brooks led all scorers for the game with 22 points, ended up with sixteen rebounds and two blocks. Figearo ended up with 11 points, nine rebounds, four assists and a steal. Chris Buchanan, chipped in 5 points and had three rebounds. Jesse Mills finished with six rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Donny MacAdam grabbed two rebounds and played strong defense along with Kevin Tait in helping the Knights hold their second opponent in a row under 30 points. The Knights are now 4-2, winning 4 out of their last 5 games.

| The Trinity Knights High School JV basketball team beat Vasquez High School of Acton 42-27 on Friday.
James Brooks led all scorers with 16 points, he also had eighteen rebounds to go along with eight blocked shots and three assists. Jordan Mumper added 14 points and seven rebounds. Brandon Figearo recorded 4 points, five steals, three rebounds and an assist. Shane Larsen and Danny Leavitt had six rebounds each and added 4 and 2 points respectively. Kevin Tait rounded out the scoring with 2 points, Tait also had three rebounds.
Jesse Mills, Donny MacAdam and Chris Buchanan were instrumental in our press defense in the second half that held Vasquez to only 11 points after halftime.
The Knights are now 3-2 in their inaugural season of High School basketball.

| James Brooks hit a 3-pointer with 30 seconds left to lift Trinity Classical Academy to victory over Grace Bretheren 54-51 in overtime.
Jordan Mumper led all scorers with 23 points, he also had six rebounds and three assists. Brooks wound up with 19 points, including eight in the overtime period. Brooks also had 11 rebounds.
Brandon Figearo added 5 points. Shane Larsen and Danny Leavitt scored key baskets down the stretch to help in the victory. Jesse Mills was instrumental defensively as Trinity had to come back from a 30-23 deficit in the third quarter.
The Knights are 2-2 in their inagural season of High School Basketball.

Trinity Drops Make-Up Game to Village Christian

The Trinity High School JV Basketball team lost to Village Christian 44-34 on Wednesday night. Trinity is 1-2 to start the season, but have been competitive in every game. Trinity fell behind 12-1 in the first few minutes of the game, and could not overcome the slow start. Jordan Mumper led all scorers with 19 points, Brandon Figearo added 11 and Shane Larsen chipped in 4. Daniel Leavit had 6 rebounds, Jesse Mills added 3. The Trinity defense was strong holding Village Christian to 44 points. The defensive stand outs were Mumper, Larsen, Chris Buchanan, Donny MacAdam and Kevin Tait. They helped hold Village to just 32 points after they scored 12 points in the first few minutes of the game.

| The Trinity Knights won their first high school basketball game in school history by beating the Grace Bretheren Lancers 53-39. Jordan Mumper and James Brooks each scored 21 points. Brandon Figearo added 9 points, all from behind the arc. Chris Buchanan rounded out the scoring with 2. Brooks added 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks. Mumper recorded 4 steals and harrassed the Lancer guards the entire game with his defense. Buchanan deflected many passes by keep his hands up and in the passing lanes. | The Trinity Knights played their first ever high school basketball game on Thursday, losing to the Western Christian Lancers 59 - 48.
The Knights played well in the first half leading 23-18 at the break, led by James Brooks' 9 points in the second quarter. The Knights led by as much as 10 points in the third quarter, paced by an offensive outburst by Jordan Mumper.
Unfortunately, the Lancers' full court press and patient ball movement allowed them to get back in the game that they eventually won.
Jordan Mumper led all scorers with 18 points, James Brooks had 16, Daniel Leavitt chipped in 10 and Brandon Figearo rounded out the scoring with 5. Trinity's defense was excellent in the first half holding Western Christian to 18 points. Shane Larsen, Chris Buchanan, Jesse Mills, Kevin Tait and Donny MacAdam contributed on the great defensive effort the first half.
It was quite a showing for the Knights, as Western Christian has a high school enrollment of approximately 400 students and Trinity's enrollment is 36. Picture Gallery
