Trinity 6th Graders Open Their Season With a Buzzer Beater over SCCS

Jordan Mumper hit a 3-pointer as time expired to lift Trinity to a 38-35 win over Santa Clarita Christian in front of a raucous crowd at New Naz on Thursday, Jan, 8th. The rematch of last year's SCPSAL final was a see-saw battle with the lead changing numerous times. But in the and, Ian Caddow inbounded to Mumper who canned a jumper from the corner and crowd went crazy.
Mumper led all scorers with 16 points and was 7-13 from the field and tacked on 3 assists a rebound and a steal. Caddow contributed 11 points on 5-11 shooting and dominated the boards with 14 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. Ryan Tottan had 4 points (3 RBs, 3 STs), Tyson Chapman had 3 points (12 RBs, 1 ST) and Jonathan Kugler rounded out the scoring with 3 points.
The Knights got a good contribution from the rest of the bench with Cole Maimone and Coleman Sweeney each tallying a rebound and John Nichols playing some stern defense.
One of the keys for the Knights was winning the rebound battle 33-10.
A solid first outing for the 6th Grade Knights with an exciting finish and a 1-0 record. Next up, Pinecrest on Friday, Jan. 15th - 3:30pm at New Naz.
